Medical Education Edition
As per our JWC Exception Product Pricing, we are releasing the Pediatric History & Physical Student Edition to the medical education community and waiving the licensing fee.
Medical students must learn to take a pediatric history and physical during intensive patient examinations. Documenting a patient encounter is a crucial component of the learning process. In the medical education setting, the Peds H & P alleviates the paperwork associated with the documentation process, allowing more concentration on the semantics of the data collected for analysis, diagnosis and treatment. The Peds H & P can also be used to develop case studies, capturing series of incidents during periods of epidemic.
Students are advised to check first with their advisor, hospital or clinic for approval prior to investing time or money in a computer or software. Pediatric departments may already have this software available for access in their computer labs.
The first step in obtaining the Peds H & P is to read the Java Student Edition License and the User's Guide. Look at the Sample output and decide if you should invest further time toward using this software during your education process.
The second step is to submit a Registration. We use the registration information to confirm that students requesting the software are enrolled in accredited medical school programs. The information is confidential and will not be sold, redistributed or incorporated into any marketing activities conducted by John Wubbel Consultancy. Students will be notified via E-mail if we update the program or correct a defect so that, if they desire, they can run the latest code.
Technical Considerations
All software designed and written by JWC has been developed on IBM Operating System/2 Warp versions 3 and 4 including Java Applets and Applications using the latest IBM compilers, development tools and toolkits. OS/2 Warp has proven to be the most reliable platform for mission critical applications. Its performance is second to none. In addition, OS/2 Warp comes with the Workplace Shell, a capability no other operating system can boast. The Workplace Shell offers a highly customizable desktop that is easy to configure, achieving the highest productivity in the shortest amount of time.
The Peds H & P Student Edition is available in two versions. The first version is the native OS/2 Warp edition. If you already have OS/2 Warp, we recommend installation of this version rather than the JavaTM version because it runs faster and has slightly more function. The second version is available for students with computers running Mac PowerPC, Linux, Win95/NT, OS/2, AIX and Solaris or any operating system platforms with Java Support. The Java version has been thoroughly tested on OS/2 and runs well on other platforms with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.1.4 or higher. We recommend a gradual introduction of the Peds H & P software into your routine. A few practice sessions will ensure your success. Taking the software into the examination room before achieving proficiency may result in an unnecessarily frustrating experience. We are confident that once you master the program, you will find it to be an invaluable software asset and an indispensable clinical tool.
Installation Considerations
There are three steps to installation:
The Student Edition for OS/2 comes with an install program.
The Pediatric H & P Java Student Edition comes with the IBM Java Installer. The Java Installer requires the Java Runtime Environment to be installed prior to running the installer to unpack the Pediatric H & P Profile program files.

With the JRE installed and the Peds H & P unpacked, the program is ready to run.

Delivery Considerations
After registration has been completed, JWC will respond via E-mail either confirming or rejecting the registration request. Appropriate instructions will accompany your confirmation. Delivery will be made via one of the following means:
